Non-Japanese citizens who are visiting Japan for the purpose of sightseeing and traveling on a short-stay visa.

Conditions

You must hold a passport issued by a country other than Japan.
2
You must reside outside Japan and are visiting Japan on a short-stay visa.

If you are a Japanese citizen, you can use a JR Kyushu Rail Pass, in case of meeting the following three conditions.
・you have a permanent resident status in a foreign country;
・you hold an airline ticket to depart Japan within three months; and
・you have purchased a Voucher for JR Kyushu Rail Pass overseas

Those who satisfy conditions 1 and 2 above, or just 3 .

Sale for Japanese people will be finished on March 31st, 2017. (Exchange period for a voucher purchased in overseas is until June 30th, 2017.)

(Note) JR Kyushu Rail Passes do not apply to Shinkansen (bullet train) rides between Hakata and Kokura since this portion is a part of the Sanyo Shinkansen operated by the JR West.

*JR Kyushu Rail Passes cannot be used to ride the Sanyo Shinkansen, which includes the portion between Hakata and Kokura.
Seat reservations in standard cars can be made up to 10 times per person for 3-day passes and up to 16 times per person for 5-day passes.
Charges must be paid for reserved seat tickets over the limit.
*Pass price for children (age between 6 and 11) is half of the adult price.

*If you purchase a voucher for a JR Kyushu Rail Pass overseas: the age of the child is as of the date of purchase.
*If you purchase a JR Kyushu Rail Pass in Kyushu, Japan: the age of the child will be as of the date when the pass is first effective.

Applicable trains

  • Reserved and non-reserved seats for all Shinkansen (Mizuho, Sakura and Tsubame) within the designated covered area. *The pass cannot be used for the portion between Hakata and Kokura.
  • Reserved and non-reserved seats for all limited express trains within the designated covered area.
  • Local trains within the designated covered area.

*Use of Green Car (superior class) is allowed but subject to an additional charge.

How to purchase

To purchase a Voucher for JR Kyushu Rail Pass while outside Japan

Please purchase a Voucher for a JR Kyushu Rail Pass at a travel agency. Travel agencies that sell JR Kyushu Rail Passes include:

Overseas branches and authorized travel agents of JTB, Nippon Travel Agency, Kinki Nippon Tourist (Kintetsu International), TOBU TOP TOURS, JAL(▲), JALPAK, JR Kyushu Jet Ferry(▲), Tourbaksa, Korea Railroad Corporation, Package Tour, Hana Tour, Cosmo Travel(▲), Yes Trip, EGL Tours, cola tour, LION TRAVEL and other travel agencies

*Southern Kyushu Area Pass is not sold at (▲) Company.

*The voucher of JR Kyushu Rail Pass is sold on a plane of Hong Kong Express, however, as the condition of use is different from other company's pass please ask about the detail while on a flight.

*These agents in Japan do not sell Vouchers for the JR Kyushu Rail Pass.

*After you arrive in Japan, please bring the Voucher to one of the following ticket office and you will be issued your JR Kyushu Rail Pass(es).

The voucher can be exchanged to the pass at JR Kyushu Travel () and Travel Service Center () located in the station as well as at certain JR stations. However, the voucher of Southern Kyushu Area Pass cannot be exchanged to the pass at JR Kyushu Travel Kumamoto Branch and Miyazaki Branch.

*Voucher is valid for three months after purchase.

*In order to exchange a voucher for a pass(es), you must present the Voucher in person along with your passport.

You can purchase a E-ticket for JR Kyushu Rail Passes (except Southern Kyushu Area Pass) through the ACP Rail (ACCESS RAIL) site (to the right).

*After you arrive in Japan, please bring your E-ticket to one of the following ticket offices to pick up your "JR Kyushu Rail Pass."

The E-ticket can be exchanged to the pass at JR Kyushu Travel () and Travel Service Center () located in the station as well as at certain JR stations.

*An E-ticket is valid for three months.

*Pass(es) can only be obtained in person and you must present your E-ticket and passport.

When using a JR Kyushu Rail Pass, you cannot make seat reservations on any train before your arrival in Japan.

Seat reservations can be made at any JR station or travel center in Kyushu, Japan.
Seat reservations in standard cars can be made up to 10 times per person for 3-day passes and up to 16 times per person for 5-day passes.
Charges must be paid for reserved seat tickets over the limit.
As for seat reservations, it’s convenient for you if you fill in the application form of reserved seats in advance.

A person whose name is on the pass shall be the sole user of the pass.

When you use the pass, please always carry your passport with you.

The pass cannot be used for JR Kyushu buses,B&S Miyazaki buses,the Cruise Train Seven Stars in Kyushu and the ARU RESSHA(Sweet Train).

The pass cannot be used for the Sanyo Shinkansen (between Hakata and Kokura).

Use of Green Cars is subject to an additional fee. Passes do not authorize holder access to the private room/compartment of any Green Car.

The pass is only good within the JR Kyushu service area even though there may be some lines in Kyushu operated by other companies.

Travel on trains outside of the designated coverage area of your pass is subject to an additional fee/charge.

Unavailability of seating due to full occupancy shall not be subject to refunds.

<For customers who have a voucher for a JR Kyushu Rail Pass purchased at overseas travel agencies.>

For customers who have the exchange ticket of a JR Kyushu Rail Pass ,please inquire about refunding to the agency you have purchased. JR Kyushu do not make a refund for it.

<For customers who exchanged to a JR Kyushu Rail Pass with a voucher. / or who purchased the pass in Japan.>

■ Until the Day Before the First Day of Valid Period

For customers who prefer refunding after exchanging to the pass / or purchasing the pass in Japan, please offer refunding at the issue windows of station by one day before the starting of valid date of the pass.
10% of sale price (japanese yen) will be charged as a handling charge, and the remaining amount will be refunded.

■ After the First Day of Valid Period

On or after the valid date, no refunding will apply for whatever reason including suspension of the train, etc.
